"This is B.S.!"

By Joe Hyde - Posted on May 15th, 2008

The scorn one receives when they speak the truth. This time, it is George W. Bush speaking the truth, that appeasement has been shown through history to fail miserably. It receives this kind of eloquent rebuttal.

“This is bullshit, this is malarkey. This is outrageous, for the president of the United States to go to a foreign country, to sit in the Knesset ... and make this kind of ridiculous statement.” [Says Senator Joe Biden, a Democrat].

Speaking before the Knesset, Bush said that “some people” believe the United States “should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along."

"We have heard this foolish delusion before," Bush said. "As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: 'Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided.' We have an obligation to call this what it is — the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history." (source)

I don’t know about you, but I am taking the side of George Bush on this one.

Oh, what a shock! Someone

Oh, what a shock! Someone from west Texas blindly taking W's side! Our country has suffered immeasurably under his rule -- the loss of over 4000 lives (and many more non-fatal casualties)as a result of a war based on false pretenses, a $4 trillion debt, the errosion of our due process rights, the Katrina aftermath, etc. Here is a link to a well-deserved tongue lashing of W based on his recent comments about the war:

Eight months and counting.

Stop being ignorant and

Stop being ignorant and naeve, this is what got us in trouble and got us to trust the extremist muslims that attacked us on 9/11. Had it not been for W, we would have had many other 9/11's. Thank God for W. In one day Islamists have taken more than 3500 lives, and if they were left to their accord, we would be dealing with a disaster after another. what part of they want to kill us don't you understand?

Glad I shocked you--you're

Glad I shocked you--you're in need of it. My son is an Army major who has served 15+ years and only recently returned from his latest 15-month tour in Iraq. My husband is a retired Army Colonel with 30 years service (twice in Vietnam). Your statistics are skewed. In addition to the volunteer 4,000, let's talk about drunk driving accidents, drug overdoses, and a few other luxury deaths. Furthermore, we have an all-volunteer Army (these folks believe it's an honor to serve their country) who assume the responsibility we don't want to. It is disheartening to me that so few Americans today understand what a privilege it is to be an American. We are free to criticize our President, denounce him in vile ways, and profane our flag. Go elsewhere and try to do that. My son is protecting your right to do that. I doubt that you understand that you are where you are today because of sacrifices made by your forebears and your peers. We are a nation of idealists, and malcontents. Things just aren't good enough to suit us; we have the luxury to be able to whine and moan and shout. Try Mexico, bubba. Or Venezuela. Get out of here and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Go Whirlwind, and thank your

Go Whirlwind, and thank your husband and your son for their service. I didn't know that, so without getting all misty eyed, let me thank you in turn for your service. We had a saying while I was in "Those who remain serve as well", but again I didn't fully understand it until I was one of those who "remained" and since I got out I have watched my friends deploy over and over again into harms way.

"W" is far from being

"W" is far from being embarrassing. I'm proud of him. He'll NEVER let this country go to the dogs--or Jihadists--or whoever tries to destroy us. He's not afraid to tell it like it is. He'll never be accused of being a wimp; you'll know where he stands, like it or not.

Hi sweetie............Way to

Hi sweetie............Way to go GW. The truth hurts....GO BUSH GO

Hyde, even your legendary

Hyde, even your legendary unpredictability is predictable, but this doesn't even rise to that level of cheap entertainment. No one who knows you would expect you to do anything less than support the embarassing "W," with the lowest nationwide approval rating (82 percent DISAPPROVAL, yesterday) in our history of measuring it.

Biden is right. For a myopic dufus like Bush to use a public speaking opportunity on foreign soil to poison - or even taint - the well of U.S. international diplomacy within five months of an election that will see him strolling off the White House lawn, is amoral, unethical, irresponsible, and ... oh my god! ... typical. He should be muzzled if he can't exhibit better common sense about the burden his mouth puts on the next president, regardless of who it is.

Oh yeah, Joe Biden. Another

Oh yeah, Joe Biden. Another one to talk and we should all listen to(insert sarcasm). He's a bigger idiot than W. I will give W some credit, he has stood by his principles the entire time and not buckled under to political correctness. I don't know that I trust these "approval ratings" polls at all. Most are so slanted that you'd be hard pressed to find an unbiased one. And besides, what does that say about us as a nation rather than just about a president? Maybe it's our society that should get the low approval rating instead of just the president.

I wholeheartedly disagree.

I wholeheartedly disagree. If I cared about polls, I wouldn't be this engaging. It is refreshing that we have a leader who stands on principle rather than opinion polls. Clinton proved me right on that.

Bush is stating principle. Appeasment never works. And it isn't just Obama who promotes appeasement towards enemies that want to destoy us. It is Carter, Pelosi, and the band of fellow travelers who drink the same Kool-Aid of relativism.

Thanks for the comment, by the way.

Of course you disagree.

Of course you disagree. Anything less would be a real shocker. And Patrie is wrong; you are engaging. Pathetically misuguided, but engaging (to a point) like someone who "loves the smell of napalm in the morning."

The best thing about your blog is how it reveals in such cystalline clarity the alarming hypocrisy of the Bush administration and its dwindling number of sycophants. You know, it's a great chiste, but ...

... somehow I don't recall Obama proposing anything like "appeasement," any more than did Bill Richardson and Bush when they talked - then and now - to the North Koreans, and a lengthening list of other regimes we detest.

En Noviembre, que tenga ud. mucha suerte.

Wait, you're being engaging?

Wait, you're being engaging? :) Where did that come from? I just shot soda pop outa my nose onto my keyboard, LOL

I do agree that appeasement never works but I'm just not sure we should couple it with the ole "kill em all and let God sort em out later" mentality. Ok don't get me wrong that does work in some circumstances. We need to get away from this dependence on foreign oil so we can stop feeling like we have to protect our overseas interests so vociferously. If this seems like I'm one of those fence sitting flip flopping can't make up their mind on an issue types then you got me dead to rights on this one. My experiences overseas and my friends that are still overseas give me a perspective that is much different from the ones given on CNN, FOX News or MSNBC. They all have a slant and I'm sure each do so for different reasons. Aw heck I give up I still have to answer Joe' Blog where I seem to be in title :)
