History will be Kind to Bush

By Joe Hyde - Posted on January 25th, 2008

CBS TV magazine "60 Minutes" will air an interview with the FBI agent who interrogated Saddam Hussein while the U.S. held him after capture. He notes that Saddam told him he faked having WMDs because he used their threat as a deterrent to a second Iranian invasion.

A rhetorical question often asked when examining military tactics is, "how many mines does it take to mine a harbor?" The answer is none. Instead you make the enemy THINK you have mined the harbor and that pretty much shuts down commerce. And any combatant wanting to reopen that harbor is going to have to sweep it for mines to make sure mines don't exist.

Our President George W. Bush didn't go to war entirely because of the WMD issue, but his administration used it as justification. It was a good justification, too. According to the FBI agent:

[Saddam] also intended and had the wherewithal to restart the weapons program. "Saddam still had the engineers. The folks that he needed to reconstitute his program are still there," says Piro. "He wanted to pursue all of WMD…to reconstitute his entire WMD program." This included chemical, biological and nuclear weapons, [FBI agent George] Piro says. (source)

Had we not taken down Hussein, we'd still be wondering if the harbor was mined while the madman Hussein was rapidly working towards actually deploying the mines. What kind of world would this be if we were still wondering if and when Hussein's Iraq was outfitting Hamas with WMD?

For this reason, history will be kind to Bush.

Cognitive dissonance really works. Next time you see a veteran ask him or her if they're over it yet. Are you over Afghanistan yet? Please tell us how you do it. I want to remember to forget also.
Yes history will be kind to Bush 'cause there always be people believing they cannot affect change. Keep your head in the sand junk panda and give us your subterranean wisdom.

Wait I am confused, should I

Wait I am confused, should I ask a veteran or is that directed at someone else?
If so, I'll simply ask myself.
I am not some random chicken hawk.

Wow, that is convenient. So

Wow, that is convenient.
So what are supposed to be some of the best intel folks in the world got bluffed out?
Awesome.
I could believe this in 1950, but now days? Really?
I'm so over Iraq.
