"This is B.S.!"

By Joe Hyde - Posted on May 15th, 2008

The scorn one receives when they speak the truth. This time, it is George W. Bush speaking the truth, that appeasement has been shown through history to fail miserably. It receives this kind of eloquent rebuttal.

“This is bullshit, this is malarkey. This is outrageous, for the president of the United States to go to a foreign country, to sit in the Knesset ... and make this kind of ridiculous statement.” [Says Senator Joe Biden, a Democrat].

Grey Matters and Amor Patriae

By Joe Hyde - Posted on May 14th, 2008

I may have clocked a good one on the recent poll, “With all the tornados and earthquakes happening in the World, do you believe these are the 'End Times' forecasted in the Bible?” posted this week.

It brought about a interesting discussion, led by Whirlwind, about Christianity and the U.S. Constitution, which lead further into a discussion on grey areas vs. black and white worldviews.

Jesus and James Dean

By Joe Hyde - Posted on April 22nd, 2008

I thank God for the friends that come around when you need them most. You know the ones. They are the ones you aren't expecting to be there and show up and say, "Hey it's all gonna be alright."

Barack Obama May Have Lost the Nomination in South Carolina

By Joe Hyde - Posted on January 26th, 2008

Congratulations to Senator Barack Obama for winning the South Carolina primaries. Unfortunately, he may have lost the nomination at the same time. If anyone has followed the shrewd tactics of the evil couple of Bill and Hillary Clinton, they will understand what Patrick Buchanan notes about the Ghettoizing of Barack Obama:

Obama’s lead, estimated by some at 15 points, vanished, and Hillary won what became one of the great upsets in New Hampshire history.

History will be Kind to Bush

By Joe Hyde - Posted on January 25th, 2008

CBS TV magazine "60 Minutes" will air an interview with the FBI agent who interrogated Saddam Hussein while the U.S. held him after capture. He notes that Saddam told him he faked having WMDs because he used their threat as a deterrent to a second Iranian invasion.

Time Warner's Coming Bandwidth Caps

By Joe Hyde - Posted on January 23rd, 2008

If you are on Time Warner cable, you may want to follow what they are doing in Beaumont. Apparently, there was an intra-compamy memo leaked to Broadband Reports (and confirmed) declaring that the company is planning to implement bandwidth capping and charging for extra use (measured in gigabytes over quota).

Maybe Comstock will Hire Roland Menzel?

By Joe Hyde - Posted on January 20th, 2008

Good mathematics or physics teachers willing to put up with Del Rio High School are probably hard to find. Teacher Roland Menzel, an immigrant from Communist East Germany has been teaching in Del Rio since 1993. He arrived here on a teacher exchange program. His specialty is physics.

Del Rio is about to send him out on a shingle now. Just like other teachers and administrators who failed to tow the line.

Obama's Politics of 'Hope'

By Joe Hyde - Posted on January 19th, 2008

I will admit that I am attracted to the charisma of Barack Obama. Now, my friends know me to be a straight-shooting Republican, defender of all of America's moral virtues. But still, the Obama message IS appealing, especially if you are not as seasoned as an older fellow.

Jonah Goldberg likes Obama, too. But he argues that the Obama message is a fairy tail, and if followed, detrimental to the democratic process:

The Smear Campaign Against Veterans

By Joe Hyde - Posted on January 18th, 2008

Ollie North, fine American and warrior, wrote an op-ed about what he calls the smear campaign being waged against military recruiters.

According to one recruiter in Wisconsin:

My Liberal Macintosh Ways

By Joe Hyde - Posted on January 16th, 2008

Leave it up to some academics to suggest that I am more likely to be a liberal because I love my MacBook Pro. According to a new survey released by Mindset Media:

The company interviewed 7500 people and found that liberal thinkers were 60 percent more likely to buy a Mac. These same people were also less modest and more sure of their own superiority than the rest of the population.
