The confiscation of 464 children from the FLDS compound in Eldorado was overturned by an appeals court last week. The court said it was illegal. The state will take the matter to the Texas Supreme Court.

Some may be wondering why this is? How can a bunch of old men (well, the average age is around 30) get away with cultivating and harvesting teenaged wives? It's the porn nation, man! Google "teen sex" and you'll see what I mean.

The scorn one receives when they speak the truth. This time, it is George W. Bush speaking the truth, that appeasement has been shown through history to fail miserably. It receives this kind of eloquent rebuttal.

“This is bullshit, this is malarkey. This is outrageous, for the president of the United States to go to a foreign country, to sit in the Knesset ... and make this kind of ridiculous statement.” [Says Senator Joe Biden, a Democrat].

I may have clocked a good one on the recent poll, “With all the tornados and earthquakes happening in the World, do you believe these are the 'End Times' forecasted in the Bible?” posted this week.

It brought about a interesting discussion, led by Whirlwind, about Christianity and the U.S. Constitution, which lead further into a discussion on grey areas vs. black and white worldviews.

I thank God for the friends that come around when you need them most. You know the ones. They are the ones you aren't expecting to be there and show up and say, "Hey it's all gonna be alright."

It is with regret, really, that Southwest Texas LIVE! feature writer Bill Sontag and I have parted ways. Bill was instrumental in starting this publication with me in May 2006. We have experienced many ups and a few downs along the way, and Bill was always there helping me guide this beast generally in the right direction. His stories and fantastic photography will be sorely missed.

The race for the White House is going to go to the Democrats unless the Republican nominee addresses the problem of the squeezed middle class. Corporations are generally evil in my opinion. They monopolize and gather so much money that they control everything, including media. Consider this bit of news on the AP yesterday:

Exxon Mobil Corp. on Friday posted the largest annual profit by a U.S. company -- $40.6 billion -- as the world's biggest publicly traded oil company benefited from historic crude prices at year's end.

The common mantra of liberals who are abhored by Bush's pre-interdiction foreign policy is that because the Bush Administration invaded Iraq without so-called support of the U.N. (and that isn't totally true, either), that the 'big bully' American will, for some reason, just as assuredly invade France or Sweden. But the liberals will probably never give Bush credit for another side of his preemption foreign policy he implemented in, of all places, Africa:

Congratulations to Senator Barack Obama for winning the South Carolina primaries. Unfortunately, he may have lost the nomination at the same time. If anyone has followed the shrewd tactics of the evil couple of Bill and Hillary Clinton, they will understand what Patrick Buchanan notes about the Ghettoizing of Barack Obama:

Obama’s lead, estimated by some at 15 points, vanished, and Hillary won what became one of the great upsets in New Hampshire history.

CBS TV magazine "60 Minutes" will air an interview with the FBI agent who interrogated Saddam Hussein while the U.S. held him after capture. He notes that Saddam told him he faked having WMDs because he used their threat as a deterrent to a second Iranian invasion.
